Big hit!

January 22, 2024

Summer’s well and truly here, and that means there’s plenty of sporting action to watch on both sides of the country!

On the East coast, some of the Melbourne team made their way to the Australian Open. With Melbourne (finally) deciding to turn on the heat, it was the perfect weather to watch some of the world’s best athletes go head-to-head for the chance to be top tennis dog.

A particular highlight was catching the end of the match between Australia’s own Christopher O’Connell and the USA’s Ben Shelton. Despite being down two sets, O’Connell fought back with true Aussie spirit to claim the third…yet the fairy-tale comeback wasn’t to be, and Shelton eventually took the win after a gripping tie-break.

Meanwhile, out West it was an absolute SCORCHER. A few of the team got themselves across to the Furnace, watching the back-to-back champs, the Perth Scorchers, take on the Sydney Sixers after work. While it was a close run thing (coming down to the final ball of the match), Perth fell just short in a thrilling encounter – despite the hearty and parochial support of the Painted Dogs in attendance.
