The Pack Runneth Over!

May 6, 2022

‘Another one’ isn’t just the catchphrase of our beloved DJ Khaled – it’s also quickly becoming the motto of Painted Dog! Last week, we welcomed another new recruit to our pack, Calvin Lim, who joins us after completing his Master of Marketing (with a perfect GPA, no less!) at UWA.

We sat down with Calvin after his first week to find out a bit more about him and what he’s most excited about!

Why painted dog? What attracted you to us?

Ever since I came to Perth for university, I was told that Painted Dog is the go-to place for anything and everything market research. I believe that being able to incorporate data was what separated good marketers from great marketers. I was looking for an agency that could push my analytical and client management skills, feed my creative needs, was in line with my goals, and offered a fun working culture. The more I talked to the staff during my interview phase, the more I was convinced that this is the place that ticked all my boxes!

What are you most looking forward to about your new role?

Definitely working with different clients and helping them solve problems. Fulfilment for me comes in the form of helping others through understanding them and their needs. I also get to know about the business environment of various industries (how exciting!!). Knowing that my work has a direct impact on my client’s business is just the cherry on top of the cake.

What was the highlight of your first week?

Other than being offered an attractive deal to buy an eScooter on my first day of work, coming in close second would be getting to talk to everyone to learn more about the company. It’s awesome to know that everyone shares a similar passion (with their own unique flavour)!

Best piece of advice you received from another staff member so far?

Don’t meddle with the air conditioning – I have not learnt that the hard way and I don’t wish to. Jokes aside, my colleagues are always telling me that I should just ask if I have any questions, and that they have all been in my position before. It’s comforting to know that everyone understands the challenges of starting in a new job and that really takes a lot of worries off your shoulders!

Welcome to the team, Calvin! We’re thrilled to have you here and excited to see you do great things at Painted Dog (acrobatics included…)!
