So many things to celebrate!

April 14, 2025

Pets have long been known to provide emotional support, and recent studies continue to highlight their positive impact on mental health and workplace wellbeing. In Australian workplaces, the presence of pets — or even pet-friendly policies — can significantly reduce stress, improve mood, and foster a more positive work environment. Employees often report feeling more relaxed and engaged when animals are nearby, which can lead to increased focus, creativity, and collaboration. The simple act of petting a dog, for instance, can reduce cortisol levels and release endorphins, helping staff manage anxiety and improve overall morale.

You know where this is going. Last Friday, for National Pet Day, the Painted Dogs formally invited (and encouraged) anyone who’d like to bring in their dog. (We figured dogs were the safest species to invite). We were honoured with three canines for the day and it was fantastic.

Meet Winnie, Luna and Scruffy:

Three chilled-out personalities definitely meant they assimilated to office life well. We can’t say they paid much attention during meetings though!

L: Scruffy scores some much needed rest during our company wide meeting.

R: Winnie preferred to relax outside the boardroom after her tiring outdoor expedition, whilst Luna (not pictured), spent the meeting trotting between her owner Brent and other employees, seeking the best pats she could find. All photos of Luna were blurry and could not be included.

And then the afternoon was paused to celebrate Imogen’s 15 year anniversary – flowers, cake, speeches and a quiz – it was quite the celebration! It’s not every day you get to celebrate someone who’s been part of the furniture for a decade and a half, keeping things running smoothly, calmly navigating the chaos, and somehow always knowing where everything (and everyone!) is. Here’s to 15 years of admin magic, PDR memories, humour and being the glue that holds it all together. Congratulations, Imogen! Scruffy was the most excited about the food on offer.
