Staff Spotlight: Imogen!
October 2, 2024
This month’s spotlight falls on Imogen, Painted Dog’s Executive Assistant. She’s been wandering the Painted Dog halls for quite some time and most of our long-term clients would be very familiar with her. She’s known here as our project support, resident photographer and most commonly wins the induction question, “What is the weirdest pet a staff member has?” (Snakes). If you want to know a little more about her, read on. Looking at her answers, we probably should have given her a word limit…

Which Painted Dog would win PDR Survivor?
I have been angling to play PDR Survivor for as long as I can remember – Justin, please make this happen. The largest aspiration I could hope for would be top ten… even I would vote me out. You’ve got to have the right amount of skill and likeability without dabbling too heavily in the politics or showing your competitiveness and that really narrows the playing field – I think we have plenty of dark horses these days, but if i had to put money on it I’d go Bill or Tara – each week you’d think, “They’re a major threat, they need to go, but oh they’re so nice and so useful in challenges, they can stay one more week, this week we’ve got to get rid of Liam/Andrew/Justin/ etc.”
If you were a breed of dog, which would you be and why?
So when I thought about my personality traits, if I was a domesticated pet I’d probably be more likely to be a cat. But I prefer dogs, so let’s go with a Beagle. They’re stubborn, independent, love to exercise, impatient, don’t like being shown the same thing more than once and will literally not stop until they’ve eaten all the food.
Which 2 Painted Dogs would you take to a deserted island and why?
Anyone that has ever given hangry vibes was immediately cut, sorry Michelle you’re out. So no hanger, but smart and capable whilst being level headed and not prone to falling in a heap and having a cry. If Ben’s knowledge extends to survival (Ben, please confirm) then I think he could be very useful – maybe build some cool stuff and get some things happening around the place. Then you’d want some sort of comic relief accompanied by a vague hint of being useful – maybe Liam? Noah might’ve also been a good second choice but his body is 25 going on 50 so there are better choices out there to help with our survival. Play a little less pro sport, Noah and then maybe you’ll get an invite. Also, who on this team builds things? That’s the issue with academics…
If you won the $100m jackpot, what would you do first?
OK eaaaaasy. Breaking the news to my husband would be so fun to do and I think i could keep it to myself long enough to organise. I’d order his favourite sportscar – Koenigsegg in black on black – then drive it to his workshop, go inside and tell him that we won and that there’s something out the front to prove it. Some sort of variation of that. That would be fun. Then you know, contact the family and pay all their mortgages off, that sort of thing.
What advice would you give a new staff member?
I would probably tell them that this will be both the weirdest and most wonderful place you will ever work, and the coolest thing about that, is now you’re part of it and can add your own weird and wonderful to the team. The people at Painted Dog are as unique as the culture and it has to be experienced to truly understand what that means haha.
