Celebrating NAIDOC Week

July 11, 2024

This week, NAIDOC celebrations are being held across Australia to recognise and embrace the history, achievements and culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As part of these celebrations, our team across the country was fortunate enough to participate in an event hosted by Tanya Hosch – one of Australia’s prominent First Nations leaders – who currently holds an Executive position at the AFL. The seminar was informative and inspiring, helping us to develop a deeper awareness and appreciation for Indigenous cultures, traditions and contributions – and further appreciate the resilience and strength of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We learned that NAIDOC week is centred around providing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples the platform and opportunity to foster pride in themselves, their history, their culture and their communities – and left the session feeling more aware of how we can advocate for equality and embrace the successes of Indigenous peoples.

We are lucky enough to work with a range of organisations across Australia that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, so getting the chance to celebrate and learn more about these communities and their cultures is always a rewarding experience for our team. We appreciate the opportunities we’re given at Painted Dog to participate in these sorts of events, and celebrate the diversity and history of the country which we work across.
