Doing our bit
June 14, 2024
Our vision at Painted Dog is to make a positive difference in everything we do. We strive to deliver this through our work each day and actively seek out opportunities to do good in the community and take part in initiatives bigger than ourselves.
This month, a bunch of the Painted Dogs headed out over one lunchtime, rolled up their sleeves, and donated blood. Among our pack of donors we had everyone from certified veterans, to occasional donors, to first timers – all ready to give the gift of life. For just 10 minutes in the chair, and about 8% of your blood supply (that regenerates within 2 days!), you can save up to 3 lives. We’re already booked in for another team donation in 12 weeks’ time!
Additionally, as the weather got cooler and the days shorter, our Social, Wellbeing and Training Team (SWAT) organised donations for Street Friends WA to help out those in need with essential items for the impending winter. Sure enough, stacks of blankets, clothes, pillows, and other items were brought in for donation. It was a poignant moment, enabling us to reflect on the situations we find ourselves in and understand how easy it is to be a part of something bigger.
If you’re ready and able to give blood, sign up or book a donation at https://www.lifeblood.com.au/ to give the gift of life.
