Welcome to the pack!

August 4, 2023

So excited to be welcoming two new Pack mates to the team – Ben and Ruby! Ben hails from the UK and brings with him years of experience to join Matt and Alex in heading up the Melbourne office and we’re eager for him to get started – an epic addition we’re really excited about. Ruby is fresh off a Bachelor of Psychology and eager to jump into the research game and we couldn’t be happier to have her on board – she’s hit the ground running and already feels like she’s been here for months.

We love getting to know new staff better and also finding out what attracted them to us and why they want to work here. Ben and Ruby both took a shot at answering our questions, take a read below:

Why Painted Dog? What attracted you to us?

B: The positive energy! From my first meeting with Chris, Claudia and Justin through to every team member I’ve met since, I have felt so welcomed and excited to be a part of this team. It was clear to me that Painted Dog have worked hard to build a high-performing team who care for their work, but also care for their colleagues. The expertise and capabilities we have amongst the team really impressed me too!

R: Having seen firsthand the impact that Painted Dog Research has on businesses through their ability to uncover valuable insights and in turn, create opportunity for growth and success. It was clear to me, after this, that market research was a great career to dive into. I was not only attracted to Painted Dog as the market leader in this industry, but also the workplace culture that was so evidently important to the team.

What are you most excited about / looking forward to in your role?

B: The opportunity to replicate the success Painted Dog have had in Western Australia and help to grow the business from Melbourne. I think there’s so much potential for us – a truly full-service agency bringing fresh thinking, innovative methodologies and a customised approach to research briefs. It’s been great to see the awesome work that’s been delivered by the Melbourne team over the last 18 months and I’m looking forward to supporting more clients in this way.

R: I am super excited to be a part of meaningful and interesting projects with a fantastic team. I am looking forward to being challenged and developing my skills in the field of research.

What was the highlight of your first week?

B: Getting stuck in with a qualitative research project in the healthcare charity space. The insights so far have been so interesting, and I keep finding myself thinking about the implications for the client! A lot of my experience to date has been with commercial clients, so it’s been great to apply my skills to a client working in a different sector but facing very similar challenges to those I’ve worked with in the past.

R: I can’t choose between San Churros for afternoon tea on my first day or getting the answers correct to the Painted Dog quiz from the team.

Best piece of advice you received from another staff member so far?

B: To get Induction sessions locked in the diary ASAP! They’ve all been really valuable sessions and definitely worth scheduling in early. I’ve learnt a lot about the history of Painted Dog Research and the journey to where we are now!

R: Never be afraid to ask questions and don’t overwhelm yourself by saying yes to everything straight off the bat.

Welcome to the pack, guys! Excited to see what you achieve at Painted Dog.
