Ready to go one better!

February 20, 2023

In May 2022 we saw our multi-talented head of Data Science and Executive Director, Michelle, on the big stage at the IIHF Ice Hockey Women’s World Championship in Zagreb, Croatia. Fast forward 9 months and we’re once again proud to say that she’s representing Australia on the ice at yet another World Championship – this time in Cape Town, South Africa!

Bringing home the silver in 2022!

Grouped with Croatia, Belgium, South Africa, and our friends across the ditch in New Zealand, Australia starts their campaign and quest for gold today (Monday 20th February) against the hosts. They head into a tough group with confidence, having comprehensively dispatched South Africa in last year’s Worlds 17-0, and group rivals Croatia not fairing much better against Australia in that tournament either (13-0). One game we’re keeping a keen eye on is the matchup against our longtime sporting rivals New Zealand – Australia’s last game of the group stage and one which could prove vital to whether they land in the final or not! We’ll be tuning in at 8pm Perth time on Sunday 26th February to cheer them on!

While Michelle and the team came home with the silver medal last time (still an incredible achievement in our eyes!), she’s assured us that this time around, they’re even hungrier for gold and ready to go one better. We’re wishing her and the team the best of luck and can’t wait to see her in action – go Aussies!!!

Part of the team on their way to the Championships in 2023!
