The Push-Up Challenge: Day 1

June 1, 2022

The Push-Up Challenge is upon us; today’s challenge: 74 pushups. Easssssy peasy. The Painted Dogs have rallied together to join this great cause, learn more about mental health, get fit, have fun and hopefully raise some money too.

The Push For Better Foundation was founded by Nick Hudson and had humble beginnings – just a bunch of friends who supported each other in 2017 to reach a goal of 3,000 pushups in a month, to now having over 170,000 people participate Australia-wide in 2021. The goal for 2022 is 3,139 pushups in 24 days to raise awareness for the 3,139 Australians who tragically died by suicide in 2020. This year, Push For Better Foundation is joined by charity partners Lifeline and Movember, to bring more awareness to this important initiative.

Every day for the 24 day challenge, The Push For Better Foundation publishes a new fact about mental health. Day 1’s mental health fact we LOVE- it’s all about pets and how they positively influence our mental health. Working in a company formed by three animal lovers, it’s no surprise Painted Dog attracts employees who also love their pets! Check out our eclectic collection below:

From The Push-Up Challenge:

“Research has uncovered numerous mental health benefits to having a pet.

One survey found that 74% of pet owners reported mental health improvements because of pet ownership and 75% said that the mental health of a family member or friend had improved because of having a pet….

…Pets can help reduce depression and anxiety, decrease levels of stress hormone cortisol and risk of cardiovascular disease. Pets have also been shown to reduce loneliness and provide companionship. They help to provide a sense of purpose, promote social interaction, and improve physical fitness. This can have significant effects on mental wellbeing and slow down cognitive decline.”
