Welcome to the Pack, Tye!

June 18, 2026

One week ago, Tye Thomson joined the Painted Dog pack as our newest Account Executive, bringing plenty of enthusiasm, curiosity and a willingness to get stuck into whatever comes his way. Fresh from completing a Bachelor of Commerce (Finance & Marketing) at UWA, Tye also spent a semester studying abroad in Amsterdam and has a keen interest in understanding consumer behaviour, market trends and the insights that help organisations make better decisions.

Before joining Painted Dog, Tye gained experience through an internship with Commonwealth Bank’s Commercial Business Banking team, while also juggling roles as a Duty Manager at Optus Stadium and a maths tutor. Outside of work, he’s a sports enthusiast who plays netball and soccer, picks up basketball and cricket during summer, writes and plays his own music, and is working towards the ambitious goal of visiting 100 countries in his lifetime.

While we’ve enjoyed getting to know Tye over his first week, it was his homemade apple crumble that really got everyone’s attention. It disappeared remarkably quickly and has already set a high bar for future office treats. We’re excited to have Tye on board and look forward to seeing where his curiosity, energy and passion for learning take him at Painted Dog.

Read below for how Tye found his first week:

Why Painted Dog? What attracted you to us?

I was motivated to join PD because of the breadth and depth of their accounts. It seemed like they did work in every sector – public and private – which stood out to me as an opportunity to learn so much, as well as to get exposed to plenty of new opportunities and connections. Once I met the team, I knew that I would feel at home right away, and that PD would become a place I would look forward to working for every day.

What are you most excited about / looking forward to in your role?

Getting to tackle some tasks on some big accounts, particularly in the Finance and Resources industries. I’m also looking forward to the feeling of having my first proposal approved!

What was the highlight of your first week?

Getting to attend a kick-off meeting for a new account I’ll be joining and becoming accustomed with the larger-than-life characters of the team.

Best piece of advice you received from another staff member so far?

“Grow at your own pace. There will always be opportunities to take on more responsibility, but don’t take on too much work or you might burnout.” As someone who can live too fast at times, this advice really hit home!!
